University Prep Science & Math is a public charter school district affiliated with the highly successful University Prep Academy (UPA) system of schools.
UPA schools were founded in Detroit to prove that urban children can succeed in college through highly personalized learning and relentless commitment to their success.
Since the first UPA school opened its doors in 2000 in the basement of a church on Medbury, these learning communities have consistently produced outstanding results. Over 95% of UPA students graduate annually; and 91% go on to College.
The UPA system now includes over 1,600 students at the following locations:
University Preparatory Academy (grades 7-12)
University Preparatory Elementary School (K-5)
University Preparatory Elementary II
UPSM is the second charter school district founded by Doug Ross. These district schools place a strategic focus on preparing students for the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) careers of the global economy. Locations include:
University Prep Math & Science Middle School (grades 6-8)
University Prep Math & Science High School (opening in fall 2010 on Detroit’s riverfront, grades 9-12)
